After watching the Falcons, Cowboys, and Patriots all lose in epic fashion, it is plainly obvious that November 15, 2009, is one of the greatest sports days of all time.

After losing to the Washington Redskins by 10, and letting punter Hunter Smith complete a Touchdown pass to fullback Mike Sellers, it is painfully obvious that the Denver Broncos are a shitty team and will be extremely lucky if they manage to finish the season any better than 8-8.

Jones Drew is a cheap punk - he's got an open field and he punks by dropping at the one so that the Jaguars can grind the clock (even though the TD would have put it out of reach).

Ochocinco fined for $1 bribe ATTEMPT [Nov. 13th, 2009|03:20 pm]

[phatmatt]
Chad Ochocinco has been fined $20,000 for his attempted $1 bribe of an official during a game recently. The main reason is for conduct "unbecoming".

In a way, I understand it, as bribing officials is a very bad thing; but, it was only $1.00 and, I don't think the official even saw the money as he was waving Ochocinco away.

Current strength-of-schedule for all 32 teams [Nov. 13th, 2009|10:29 am]

nflfans

[capheine]
[mood |accomplished]

I hate not being able to find strength-of-schedule information online, so I sacked up and made my own:

Here you go. Enjoy.

The columns you care about are B and E. Everything else is just formulas - column A is that specific team's winning percentage, and columns F and continuing are the winning percentages of the teams that have been played so far by the team in column B. Cell E38 is just a checksum (if it's not really close to 100%, I did something wrong).

I'll probably update it every week to go along with [info]duj_1arm's power rankings and [info]freezer818's weekly reviews.

Redskins fans, I checked your team's row twice because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It's official, though: your team sucks elephant diarrhea. Anyone else, if you think your team's OW% or any other numbers are incorrect, let me know and I'll tweak where necessary (but hey, E38 is at 99.98%, so I think I nailed it).

Hornets fire Byron Scott, replace him with team GM [Nov. 12th, 2009|09:30 pm]

Hornets fire Scott, name Bower coach

After nearly losing his job following last season's first-round exit, Byron Scott's coaching tenure with the New Orleans Hornets lasted only nine more games.

The Hornets on Thursday responded to their 3-6 start -- and a limp effort on national television in Wednesday's 20-point loss to Phoenix -- by firing Scott and replacing him with general manager Jeff Bower.

The firing is the second major move that the Hornets have made since the end of last season in an attempt to reverse their recent slide and ease the growing frustrations of star guard Chris Paul, although sources close to the situation stressed that Paul has remained a strong Scott supporter. In July, New Orleans sent center Tyson Chandler -- who was plagued by foot problems throughout last season -- to the Charlotte Bobcats for Emeka Okafor.

New Orleans has also rehired former coach Tim Floyd, who left USC in June in the wake of ongoing questions about the recruiting of O.J. Mayo, to serve as top assistant to Bower. Floyd posted a 41-41 record in 2003-04 in his only season as Hornets coach; Bower was an assistant to Floyd that season but has never been a head coach in either college or the pros.

"I just think that we had gotten to the point where things that we were doing just weren't working, weren't being effective," Hornets forward David West told local reporters Thursday after the firing was formally announced.

Saying that the Hornets "needed to try some new things," West added: "Amongst the team I think there was a sense [that] a few guys weren't trusting what we had in terms of our system and our ability to know what we were going to get every single night from our system."
